A proper full restoration wil restore the gun to as near "as new" as possible. This would include recutting any engraving that was blurred by the metal preparation. This would include ALL marks, stampings, etc. All action parts would be cleaned and restored to as new as possible, and defective or worn parts would be replaced. All wood would have the finish removed and would be completely cleaned, rechecked, and finished. Bluing and case color would be finished as original. The gun should look brand new, both inside and out. you should also attempt to make sure that the restoration looks like an original - not a "fancied" redo. Doug Turnbull Restoration can make your gun "as new" as I am aware anyone can.
However $2000 may be too low by 2-3 fold. New L.C. Smith shotguns sure are beautiful and fun to shoot. At registered shoots some competitors have been known to drop birds while staring at another squadmate's "new" L. C. Smith gun. Depends on what you want and your wallet.
