1925 would be right when, or slightly before, the Jostam Anti-Flinch Recoil Pad and Hawkins were available. It likely started out with a Silvers style. Reproduction Silvers and Hawkins are available from Galazan www.connecticutshotgun.com
but both are quite firm and the Hawkins reproduction is fairly heavy.
I like the London Guns English-Style Pad from Brownells #535-300-100 www.brownells.com

    And this from Researcher:

The Jostam Hy-Gun Recoil Pad was not in my 1934 or earlier Stoeger's catalogues, but appears in the 1939 and 1941, but is gone by the 1948.

In 1941 the most commonly seen Jostam pad, the Anti-Flinch was listed at $3.25. Their solid "Air Cushon" Recoil Pad listed at $3.00; the Hy-Gun at $2.75; and the Jostam No-Kick Recoil Pad at $1.75. Other pads offered in 1941 were the Hawkins with the heart-shaped vents for $3.25; the "White Line" by Fray-Mershon Inc. in regular or Skeet style for $2.50; the Noshoc for $1.50; and the Ithaca "Bridge Trestle" pad for $2.25.
