Ben, congratulations on the new stock. The best bedding material I have used is Acraglas gel with or without the steel filling. "Bondo" and other like materials work well on boats and car fenders but in experience the Acraglas seems to hold up better as a bedding material. I use the same technique on "sweet elsies" that I use in bedding a rifle. About 3-4 hours into the "cure" I remove the well release treated locks and let the curing finish. I would not use so much glas that I had to worry about the paths of the "machinery" of the lock. If I have glassed the head of the stock, I remove everything at that time too. When I do that kind of work-mainly to restore a cracked stock- I work with the top lever spring out of the receiver to facilitate the "on/off" process. To remove excess glas I use a Dremel tool and burr/grind it out/off. Good Luck and Happy New Year! Dr. BILL
