More confusing information. I too have a Premier Skeet,20 ga. S# 513131. It is stomped ,in all the right places with S #,Premier, chamber 2 3/4. It is not stamped with an E but the gun has auto.ejectors. It does not have a roll stamp on top of the London Steel barrels. My Cody letter says it is a Field Grade gun.??? The letter also says it was shipped on Aug. 23, 1949 but the factory record page from which the information is taken states the gun was 'started' on that date! There is no date indicating a date of finish or shipping.! Other guns on the ledger page with serial earlier to mine were shipped as late as 6/29/50.. Jim, you are correct in saying finished guns were shipped hap-hazzardly and not in concert to the serial numbers.
It is my opinion that at that time, i.e.post collapse, there was a great deal of confusion to finish guns, sell components and generally liquidate. Precise record keeping was not a dire requirement.
