    Main spring question Archived Message

    All-

I've come to a realization - the mainsprings available from Numrich are far too stiff. Some ofyou may recall my earlier posts about my repair of an Ideal grade that was in gorgeous cosmetic shape, but had a broken main spring, top lever, and hammers... I fixed those myself several months back, and I'm still seeking someone to work on the Hunter one trigger, but that's another story.

I've recently acquired another LC - a field grade. Not as nice, nor is the condition as good, but it's functional, and was dirt cheap, so I picked it up. I disassembled it last night to clean it fully, and upon reassembly, I realized that the main spring was MUCH easier to work with when I needed to realign the top level with the hole in the trigger guard upon reassembly.

Long story short, It took MUCH less force to reassemble this gun than it does to assemble my other. Does anyone know of a correct mainspring available from a supplier? I'd like to replace the one in my Ideal with something more like the one in my Field...

    Any advice would be welcome!

    Cheers,

    Steven
