    Charlie, from your serial number is there any letter stamped on the receiver water table, mayabe an "E". From the records your serial number is from 1906, but that states guns that were hammerless with ejectors. Does yours have automatic ejectors? Also it should have a roller type forend release to take the forend off.
    If you didn't know, you should always re-cock, break open, you gun before taking it apart so as not to put undue strain on the forend metal parts.
    Your gun will have 2 9/16" chambers not 2 3/4", so if you are going to shoot it, I would suggest using 2 1/2" shells, and under 8,000 psi loads.
