During the time frame of your gun, Hunter Arms Co. made the F-Grade in three different barrel types -- with "Good Strong Damascus" barrels the net price was $25; with "Best English Stub Twist" barrels the net price was $23; and with "Royal Steel" barrels the net price was $20. The F-Grade was their lowest grade hammer gun and was offered in 10-, 12-, and 16-gauges. The 10-gauge was dropped about 1919, while the 12- and 16-gauge F-Grade hammer guns stayed in the L.C. Smith line until 1932. L.C. Smith offered hammer guns much later then the other major, quality, American double gun manufacturers did. Nowadays with all things being equal, the gun with Royal Steel barrels is worth more on the market then the Twist or Damascus barrel gun.

You didn't say what part of the country you are in, but one of our best doublegun smiths, Keith Kearcher, is in Bend, Oregon -- http://members.toast.net/keithkearcher/
