Shock collars do indeed work wonders when used in the proper setting. I do use them for my beagles. Amazing the way it opens up their ears and their little minds. However, I disagree slightly with Dr. Bill - many pointers (esp German Shorthairs) have heads that look like a hound --- and I've found many to be just as independent and stubborn. My wife often compares the independent and stubborn streak in my dogs to me. Wonder where she got that crazy idea????
