    Gentlemen. The new L.C.Smith book breaks down the gauges for all hammerless guns by grade from 1890 to 1950. However, Jim Stubbendieck and I did not do the same for hammer guns. There were 82,422 hammer guns made between 1890 and 1932. I would guess that there were less than 5000 made in 16 gauge and probably less than 2000, probably closer to 1200 made with Royal steel barrels because Hunter only offered the 16 with fluid steel in grade F beginning around 1906.
