Many, many times one can fix, mend, glue, glass, pin a "broken" stock and it is much,much cheaper than a new stock. A picture would help in figuring out how to advise you. Best, Dr. Bill ps Even with a duplicator to do the "heavy lifting" one still will expend 50+ hours getting a buttstock blank ready for final sanding. And no one works for minimum wage that does a good job.
