Dear Mr. Murphy, A.P."Paul" Curtis was Hunter's plant superintendent 1899-1914 and general manager 10/1/1940 until he died on 1/7/1941. He received patent No. 1,239,889 for the Curtis forend fastner on 9/11/1917 and it was assigned to Hunter even though he did not work there at the time. Apparently he developed it while at Hunter. Mr. Curtis work history is as follows:Lovell Arms-Boston 1894-1896;Syracuse Arms 1896-1899;Hunter Arms 1899-1914;Winchester 1914-1917;Ithaca 1917-1920;Iver Johnson 1920-??;Marlin 1936-1940; and back to Hunter 1940-1941. Paul Curtis was interesting also the manager of the Hunter Arms baseball team. A picture of the team will appear in the new L.C.Smith due out shortly.
