I am rather new to LC Smith Guns and I would like some information concerning a gun that I inherited from an Uncle. The gun is a 20 gauge ejector gun with a four digit serial # XXXXE, 30 inch barrels (tight and tight) with an unusual, for me, safety. The safety when pushed forward operates as an automatic safety but when pulled backwards it works as non-automatic safety. In addition the gun is marked oo on the water table under the serial #, what is the significance of this mark? The gun is rough, the bores are not pitted, but there is lots of surface damage. I would appreciate your advice concerning restoration of the gun for hunting.
