The Pigeon Gun-the "real" story Archived Message

Drew, I swapped for this gun because it was in decent shape mechanically, has 32" barrels, a three position safety, and is choked IM and EF. The stock was "sacrificed" to glass build-up, then off to the duplicator for shaping(Great American Gunstocks had the wood) then back for me to final fit, sand, finish, and checker. Metal engraving was done by Jack Jones of Forest,VA, a wonderful engraver who worked with Ken Hurst. The rust bluing I did as well as the Color Case Hardening. Gun has ivory beads and stock dimensions are a la Parker trap guns. To soften recoil and to see how they work put 2 Edwards recoil reducers in the buttstock and a Hi-Viz recoil pad. (Works well and many of my by-pass patient customers/recoil challenged like the combination). The "chips in the wood/finish at the back of the locks are secondary to in and out of locks trying to get just the right trigger pull weight. It is a "shop" gun/display model for tax purposes so I was sortta "free" to experiment. Have several more Parkers and L.C.s in process at the moment. Most interesting is a 1912 Damascus 16 gauge that Nigel Teague(England) is tubing for me. It is their first 16. So now you have "the rest of the story"! BILL
