A #2? Given the serial number I was thinking a 1953 Field Special, but I know nothing of these shotguns. I inherited it from my father. I know he was using it in the early 1960s, when I was in kindergarten.

Definitely not a Crown grade, and the side plates designs do match the description of the # 2.
