Another fantastic weekend with the great targets that this venue is known for and the best weather we've had since I've been attending this event over the last ten years or so.
Once again attendance was sparse for teams LC Smith and Parker. Including myself, my wife & my daughter, LC Smith had a whopping 8 shooters on the grounds for the weekend. Several of our heavy hitters were unable to attend the event this year for a number of reasons. Team Parker also fielded 8 shooters for the event, though nearly all of their heavy hitters were present and on task.
We fell to team Parker by 6 birds during the Hammerless Fall Challenge, 110 to 116. Given the size of our bench, I thought our team shot extremely well.
For the Hammer Gun Challenge event yesterday, LC Smith fielded a full 5 shooter squad, but Parker was only able to round up 3 shooters. When combining the top three scores for each team, Team LC Smith came out on top 67 to 36.
I'll provide notes and photos for publication in the Journal, but suffice it to say that Smith Shooter Chris Cox ruled the roost for this years Fall Classic. A quick review if the event score sheets posted on Backwoods website shows that he was High-Gun in no less than 8 events including yesterdays Hammer-Gun shoot-off. I believe he wore out three pairs of shoes walking up to receive his trophies during the awards ceremony and banquet on Saturday evening!
Hopefully Rick Hemingway and his excellent crew will be able to host this great event again next year.
