The trouble with the aftermarket buttplates is that they're cast where the original were molded.
The molded ones are finished on all sides and of the original material.
The aftermarket ones are cast by pouring resin into a mold leaving the top surface flat where it makes contact with the stock. The factory ones are molded to be concave in the center of that surface which makes getting a nice fit infinitely easier.
