A lot more "art" in these very early entry-level guns The 1st year Fulton guns really mimic the preceding Syracuse guns (likely built on Syracuse-sourced parts?). This Quality 2 action is noticeably thinner in the cross-section (then even the '91 gun) and... the position of the triggers and trigger-guard guard is more-forward. The trigger plate has one-less screw (all the later Smith guns have one directly in front of the trigger guard). The pronounced "convex rib" shape on the bottom of the action is carried back into the wood on the head of the stock (a neat feature!) This was entirely dispensed-with (by 1893?) when the bottom metal was flattened and simplified. I'm waiting on Mr. Stubbendieck's book here to see how many Quality 2 guns were built in 1890, I can't imagine that it was many.
