Peculiarities in Year of Manufacture data

I was recently "found" by a 4E project gun. A quick seach on our website indicated it was made in 1898. However, a deeper look at the chart reveals that in 1891, there were 60 Hammerless ejector guns made (all gauges). SN range was 500-559. Then, there is no separate Hammerless ejector data until 1898, where it picks up where they left off in 1891. In 1898, this category registered from SN 560 to 3,173. I'm imagine that Hunter Armscontinued to produce ejector guns between 1891 and 1898. It also seems that over 2,600 ejector guns made in 1898 is quite a lot.
Then no separate listing of ejector guns in 1899 and 1900. In 1901, they pick back up, starting with SN 5,000.
