David, your thinking is correct in that the gun was manufactured in 1925 and it is an Ideal Grade. The "RE" serial number prefix indicates that it has a Regular frame (as opposed to a Featherweight frame) and that it is equipped with Automatic Ejectors (as opposed to extractors). An extractor gun would have only had an "R" prefix. Non-Field Grade Long Range guns are pretty uncommon with only 165 Ideal Ejector guns having been produced, according to Dr. Jim's book. It would be a worthwhile investment to order a Research Letter on this gun.
