I think Bro. Archer sent me this one, but I failed to document the source, or the grade of the gun. Twist and 3 Iron "Oxford" Crolle usually found on No. 2
The "rough forged tubes" were matched and paired by the Belgian maker, wired together, and shipped about 50 in a barrel to the U.S.
When "rough forged" it is very difficult to identify the pattern, so if mis-matched it usually would not be apparent until the joined and finished barrels were colored.
All it would take is for some fella in Liege to grab the wrong tube.
It is also possible that some mis-matched barrels could have been on a salesman's sample gun to demonstrate the pattern options to potential purchasers.
