"The Julia gun has the Kraus signature. Is one of our posters saying that a Deluxe with a signature is not the real gun".
The only signed Smith guns I've ever seen were signed "Glahn S.C." How about posting a photo of the Kraus signature?
The Redding gun has the initials A.E.K. under the opening lever, but that gun is a fake.
As to the sales price of the fake, thru the grape vine I've heard that this gun and others are from the estate of widow; and according to her husband's records, he paid $190K for this fake Deluxe so imagine how she must feel after learning the gun is a fake. This and the other guns were purchased as "investments" for retirement; and further this gun was sold to her husband by one of our members who proclaims to be an expert and knows better. It's sad to know that someone, especially a member, would misrepresent this or any other gun in order to take advantage. But the most important thing for anyone reading this post is to be sure you understand what it is you are buying, what constitutes originality, make sure to get a letter of authentication, and be suspicious of any LCSCA members (and other dealers) making a living selling guns. Remember, knowledge is power; and if you buy in haste, you may wind up repenting at leisure.
