Friend, you have what would be classified as a Quality 5 hammerless gun produced by the L.C. Smith Gun Co. in Syracuse, NY. There are no surviving production records from this production era, but it would have likely been made in the 1887-88 time frame. Quality 5 Smith guns from this era are very uncommon; and it is considered a high grade Smith gun with only the Quality 6 and Quality 7 guns being more expensive. Yours may or may not have been ordered as a "Trap" gun, as the standard butt plate on hammerless guns from this era all feature the word TRAP regardless of grade. Thanks for posting pics!
