Firing Pin Issues

I have a LC Smith #2 Grade 12 GA with 30” barrels. MFG date 1899. The issue I am having is that the firing pins are dragging against the spent shell making it difficult to open the action. I removed the firing pins and they appear to be in good shape with a nice rounded edge. I cleaned them and the firing pin bushing and reinstalled. With the barrels off if I tilt the receiver up and down, the pins freely slide in or out so I know that they are not sticking. When I shoot the gun, I have to tap the bottom at the hinge pin with the heel of my hand to be able to open the action. I am not sure how to resolve the issue. As FYI I measured the pins and they are the smallest pins offered (I saw a post here which had a diagram) Any suggestions appreciated. Steve
