LC Smith 16 Misfiring
Posted by Ben Smith on August 15, 2020, 7:48 pm
The right barrel of my 1925 16 gauge field grade occasionally misfires because the firing pin has wallowed out a depression in the inletted portion of the stock above the sidelock. This allows the firing pin to slide back into the action far enough to bind when the hammer falls on the misaligned firing pin. I would appreciate any suggestions on what I can use to fill the depression in the wood and correct the positioning of the firing pin (epoxy, accraglass, other?). I tried wood filler but it wasn’t hard enough and didn’t adhere well where there is oil in the wood. Thank you. Ben.smith@triad.rr,com
