Thanks Tom, I do appreciate your opinion and thank you for the information about the Marlin case color hardening process, that might explain the colors.

In any event, I’m very happy with the gun and for what I purchased it for. It has ejectors, which is nice bonus on a Field Grade. It will be used for clays and the occasional bird hunt and should fit the bill.
