Unlikely, perhaps, but “someone” sent out an uncheckered stock. My two-cents worth is that Marlin would likely not wish to invest any more time and effort in fixing a second-class gun than was necessary. I hope you don’t think I’m being confrontational; I just enjoy trying to cover all the bases. Lack of checkering is kind of moot at this point, as in order to conceal some well-intentioned, but frightful repair inflicted by my father and his brother-in-law, I was forced to checker the stock in a manner similar to found photos of Fulton Specials. The story may interest the grandkids.
