Drew...thanks a lot for your response. I checked and the action has what looks like an O with a dot in the center of it under the serial number. Missed seeing it before. The serial number seems to indicate it was made in 1909. The forend is held on by a pushrod fastener. The action also has paten information stamped into it showing PTD'D JULY 13.86 and PTD'D OCT 5-85 with what looks like an A under it. I think it may be a prof mark of some kind. I was not aware of the 2.5 inch chambers. Glad I never tried to shoot the gun. I need to have it checked to see if it has ever been changed to 2.75. Drew...thanks a lot for your help.
