I have a pretty basic question. I made the mistake of removing the forend from my newly restored 20 gauge Smith without having the gun cocked. I know this is a no no. I do have the Smith tool that was sold on this website awhile ago and I have looked at the illustration on this website about how to use it to cock the hammers but the actual method for doing it isn't adequately explained IMO. Do I simply force each side down with brute force using one side as a fulcrum against the other or is there a method for doing this maneuver?
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
