Mark, the preparation in advance of dove season is a labor of love! On opening day, I went to a paid shoot. Unfortunately, the fields were not properly prepared. Immature milo and corn, not mowed or harvested. Lots of knee-high grass in the rows. Yet somehow, the birds were coming in strong. Little wonder. 45 minutes after shooting started, game wardens arrived and shut down the shoot, "possible bait violation". While the shooters were not cited, and they let us keep the birds, the day was spoiled. At least we got a refund.
