1939 LC Smith field gr rib question

I picked up a very clean 1939 field grade that looks very clean inside and nice outside...however, the rib looks odd near the receiver end as it look to have been repaired...but I'm not sure as the joint (on close inspection) is beveled...I will include a couple of pics
