Hi Ken, I looked up those numbers, the 414796 pertained to hammers and looking at the diagrams I have never seen any L.C. Smith with that type of hammer release. The 414797 was for triggers and again have never seen any thing on a Smith gun.
What I have read was that James Hunter Sr. was looking to buy Comstock but there were not any completed guns and so he bought the L.C. Smith Gun Company in Syracuse. If John Hunter Sr. did purchase Comstock I have never seen any other information about it.
