I just bought a 12 gauge Stan Baker bore gauge.
I have used it on several barrels just to see how it works but my primary patient is a 1987 00 12 gauge Damascus barrel set.
The bores on both barrels measure .721 consistently down the full barrel length.
From what I have read .729 is the standard 12 ga bore.
#1 is a tighter than .729 common on early LC Smith?
#2 The bores/chambers looks to be without any pits but they do feel ever so barely rough. This gun appears to be a well maintained and untouched gun. There are no pits on the exterior of the barrels and they look to be unpolished or re-blued. Should I leave bores alone or is a light polishing ok or advantageous in any way.
Many thanks
Travis
