Glued down the cracks that were present from previous nails, also w/ TB. The crack/split was more that what I thought, but was I able to lift it up and get the glue in at all points. Wax paper & clamp.
Gave a go at cleaning the checkering up along the perimeter w/ a small 3-corner Nicholson file. The only tool I have that I thought might work...meh!
Laying the tape across the stock, I'm counting 16 checkering lines?
I'm going to give some thoughts to the holes in the center before I move on them . Might think about alternatives. Like 2 diamond shaped Ebony pieces butt-to-butt ~ like this <><>. Thoughts?
Thinking about how my Granddad put this gun into use. IIRC, when I was very young, on Sundays my parents would visit their folks in SF. Often staying for dinner, we'd have rabbit for supper. My mom had once told me, that before Candlestick Park was even a thought, pops would go hunting out there for rabbits...hello!
Being frugal immigrants from Sicily I'm sure this shotgun put many a meal on the table for them!
Getting on on the years, he got really sick & had signs of demention. Often, he's remark, that he was going to off himself. With that, my uncle removed the firing pins from the gun.
When he passed, I got the gun & eventually a friend of mine had Microsights go over the gun & reinstall the pins. So time has come to resurrect this gun so I can pass it on down the line....
