the new dayz .60 patch makes the fps a hell of a lot better, but it's still a long way away from being a completed game. the devs have made poor decisions, missing nearly every goal along the way and it is at times embarrassing to watch or be affiliated with. But all this drives home the excellence of the core concept & that it's still fun despite the profound lack of vision and rampant incompetence.
i hope no man's sky isn't goofy, dumbed-down and awful. I'm also kind of excited for 'worlds adrift,' having played in the closed alpha tests a few times. but that's basically the same thing as NMS on a smaller scale (but with actual multiplayer and physics). Who wouldn't want to build a flying pirate ship and engage in glider-battles for precious natural resources like sky-whale eggs?
i definitely prefer the vast, sandbox, procedurally generated, non-linear, perma-death type games over mobas or whatever else. Also i'm just older and have less time/want to spend less time playing video games. So playing something like starcraft leisurely and thereby being shit on all the time because my muscle memory is shot and my APM is averaging around 20 doesn't seem like fun.
