Lois: Okay you all got me where you want me....what is it exactly that you expect to happen now. There's no way we can manage a nice wedding dress in a couple days.
Lucy: You are a cynic sister.
Martha: Alexandra had a lovely plan...she had us all bring our wedding dresses here for you to try on. One of them might work.
Alexandra: Plus I pulled a few strings and got some sample gowns here that can be altered for you. Cost is no matter....it's one of my presents to the two of you.
Lois: Alex you don't need to be so generous.
Alexandra: Pish posh....I like giving to my friends. I know we haven't really known each other that long but our men are best friends and I feel like I've know you forever through Clark.....so not another word.
Lois: Okay....for what it's worth...I feel the same about you.
Alexandra: Thank you. Now head up to the guest room...there I have someone from the Bridal Salon to help you get in the gowns....you will be surprised by how many I have there....I called in a lot of markers.
Lois: I'm sure you did.
Lois arrives in the makeshift Bridal Salon amazed at the array of dresses available to her. The Bridal Consultant gives her a little insight on some of the dresses and Lois selects her soon to be mother-in-law's dress as her first selection. Martha is the first to speak.
Martha: Lois you look lovely.
Lois: You are not just saying that to influence me are you?
Martha: Of course not....you do look stunning but then you do all the time in my opinion. You know I love you already like you're my daughter.
Lois: I know Martha. So what does everyone think?
Catherine: I think the more important question is what do you think Lois?
Lois: It's nice and floaty....light comfortable
Lucy: I hear a but!
Lois: I do love your dress Martha and thank you for sharing it but I don't think it is quite me.
Martha: It's okay dear....you need to get something that is you. I remember when I tried on that dress for the first time....I just knew it was what I wanted to wear.....you will know when you try on the right dress for you.
Alexandra: Next!
Lois: Thoughts?
Alexandra: This dress was donated my one of my closest friends Lisette. I will say that she is has been very happily married now for about 10 years, so the dress has a good heritage.
Lois: Good to know. I do like the embroidery and the swish on the side.
Lucy: I would get married in that.
Martha: Again you look stunning.
Alexandra: So how do you feel in the dress?
Lois: Alright I guess.
Alexandra: Just alright? Not amazing?
Lois: Like Martha's dress it's comfortable.
Alexandra: Next!!
Lois: This is rather pouffy. I like the lace though.
Alexandra: No need to hold your opinions in Lois...I can tell you think it's hideous.
Lois: I don't want to seem ungrateful to all your friends who helped out in supplying the dresses.
Alexandra: No need I agree with you about the dress....it's just too much...but I do have a soft spot for it. It's my original wedding dress....the one I eloped with. You can now see why I felt the need for an intervention....you shouldn't have to settle like I did for a dress that doesn't meet your expectations.
Lois: Okay I get your point....you didn't need to throw this dress into the mix.
Alexandra: I'm glad you now see the error of your ways. Next!
Lois: Now this dress is a definite maybe.
Martha: You look beautiful Lois
Lucy: You really do Lois.
Catherine: While I agree you look amazing Lois....you should know that that is the dress I married your father in....I know you and he aren't seeing eye to eye right now.
Lois: Catherine thank you for telling me. I've come to terms with you marrying my father now and I think you are good for him....but this dress is now out.
Catherine: No offense taken dear. I only shared it because your friend asked....I would much prefer it to remain just my dress.
Lois: Understood.....it was good to see it though. You have very good taste.
Catherine: Thank you.
Alexandra: Next!!
Lois: Whereas the other dress was light and comfortable....this one is really heavy.
Martha: It is a lot of lace....looks antique.
Alexandra: The color is good on you Lois.
Lois: Yeah but it's just too heavy.
Lucy: I like it.
Lois: You aren't the one wearing it.
Alexandra: So we are agreed.....this is not your dress?
Lois: No....it's not.
Alexandra: Okay....Next!!
Lois: How many more are there?
Alexandra: a few more....trust me I know what I'm doing.
Lois: Again, you are not the one trying them on.
Alexandra: I know that....but it's all for your own good.....now go change into the next one.
Lucy: Oh Lois....you look beautiful.
Lois: This is my Mom's dress. How did it get here?
Lucy: I brought it with me....I thought you would like to try it on.
Lois: I miss Mom
Lucy: We both do.
Catherine: Your mother was my best friend Lois....she would have loved to see you get married in her dress....but this dress is making you sad.
Lois: Not sad really....it just makes me miss her all the more.
Martha: Lois are you alright?
Lois: Not really....I need to get out of this dress.
Alexandra follows Lois just to make sure she's okay. After 15 minutes or so...they both come back. Lois is in another dress although she's lost a bit of her sparkle.
Alexandra: How do you feel in this dress Lois?
Lois: I feel nothing really.....granted I'm still reeling over the last dress.
Lucy: I'm sorry I bought it with me.
Lois: Don't be Lucy....you meant well....and Mom's dress was gorgeous....I think you should save it for your wedding....maybe by then the wounds won't still be so open for me.
Alexandra: So this dress is a no?
Lois: Yes....it's no. Alexandra I'm just not feeling like doing this anymore....I'm done.
Alexandra: There are only two more dresses left to try on....trust me.
Lois: Fine.
Lois goes back to the makeshift dressing room and tries on one of the final two dresses....she is still doing it under what she feels is duress....but then again she didn't want to disappoint them.
Lois: So what do you think of this one?
Alexandra: The question is what do you think?
Lois: I like it....it's light like the lace one....airy feeling.
Catherine: Those are all good things.
Lois: I'm not sure it's definitely between this one and the last one. This one doesn't quite feel like me though....it would be gorgeous on Diana if she ever got married.
Alexandra: I think you are right....I will have to keep that in mind.
Lois: You my friend are an incorrigible romantic.
Alexandra: Guilty as charged. SO what's it going to be? Family sentiment....something new and lacy....something new and airy?
Lois: I need a couple minutes to myself....I'll be back in a few minutes....I need to think,
Lucy: Want me to come with you?
Lois: No....I can do this....I know I can. I'm really getting married aren't I? It's not just a dream.
Alexandra: Do you love Clark?
Lois: Yes with all my heart....I want to spend my life with him. I'll be right back.
After what seems like hours to those waiting on the sofa...to be fair though it was only a few minutes....because once Lois makes up her mind it's set....Lois returns
Lois: This is my dress!
Martha: I knew this was the one....but I didn't want to influence your decision.
Lois: You were right Martha....as soon as I put it on the first time I knew.
Lucy: It has a very classic Kate Middleton vibe....but you at the same time.
Catherine: I think you look like a young woman about to marry the man of her dreams.
Lois: He's the man of my reality.
Alexandra: Well said....now was all this worth it...what I put you through?
Lois: Alright....yes it was....you were right and I was all wrong about it....I do want the white dress, cake, the whole darn thing.
Alexandra: (laughs) Of course you did.
Lois: So when is my wedding date?
Alexandra: Today,
Lois: What??
Alexandra: You are eloping slash having a big wedding. I already had everything in the works before you arrived....it will be a lovely wedding.
Lois: I have to learn never to underestimate you don't I?
Martha: Well now that you are practically ready....we all have a lot to do.
Lois: So how many are coming to my wedding?
Lucy: Just your closest friends....I gave Alexandra a guest list.
Lois: Dad is not coming right? He'll just create problems.
Lucy: You can't get married without Dad Lois....that's beyond anything ....he's our Dad.
Lois: He wasn't very nice to Clark....like his opinion of Clark matters to me...I love him.
Martha: Lois dear...I think you would regret your father not being there.
Lois: Fine....he can come...but he's not walking me down the aisle.....he doesn't have the right to.
Lucy: Lois you are being pig-headed.
Catherine: I promise you that your father will behave himself. Martha is right....he should be here for the wedding but if he causes any problems I will personally make him leave.
Alexandra sensing that Lois needs some time.....starts to get everyone busy getting ready for the main event.
Alexandra: Okay everyone....I have all your clothes ready in your assigned guest rooms.....the wedding will be in the ball room in a few hours....once everyone is ready. Bruce is making sure that Clark is getting ready.
Lois is still silently fuming on being forced in her mind to accept her father's attendance at the wedding....as Alexandra ushers her out for more wedding prep....she thinks Lois needs a long soak in a hot tub to relax her.
Lois: Okay you all got me where you want me....what is it exactly that you expect to happen now. There's no way we can manage a nice wedding dress in a couple days.

Lois is still silently fuming on being forced in her mind to accept her father's attendance at the wedding....as Alexandra ushers her out for more wedding prep....she thinks Lois needs a long soak in a hot tub to relax her.
....to be continued.
She looks great in all of them, must have been a hard choice.
