FABRIC Dilemma

Our Michaiesl had a small selection of bolted fabrics that was a pain to get because there was no cutting surface, you had to drag it up to the cashiers. But the cutting table I saw was MAJOR, so they are going to invest when then can apparently.

Personally I refuse to shop at Hobby Lobby which now is the only larger fabric selection we have in the NWest suburbs of Chicago, except for a few quilt shops, where I really don't like paying 12.99yd for cottons, which will probably much more--all fabrics are imported, YIKES.

Since you're in IL, have you visited Vogue Fabrics?

It's in an industrial area right next to homes. It has a small parking lot, so it might require some circling for parking if the lot is full. It might not have what you're looking for at the prices you want, but worth checking out at least once.

Luckily, I have a huge fabric stash, and I have taken to buying interfacing, batting etc. at garage sales when I see it, and I do check out the fabric at the thrift stores. Not great when you need something specific NOW. At least at Walmart you can get thread, zippers, buttons ( basic ) etc. Better than nothing. Do you happen to have a used craft store in your area? We used to have one and it was awesome. I miss it dearly. They would always have thread etc. Great when you only needed a little. I am right there with you though. No Hobby Lobby for me either.

I just got an email from the local charity thrift shop and they are setting up a huge fabric area (it was already pretty good and they are asking for donations.) I have some stashes so I'll donate those pieces, for sure. Apparently they were gifted from a business that went out, also and will be cutting from bolts.?

…they finally are closing and have 50% off.

I heard about them planning to close about 3 years ago.
