Not sure if we have anyone who attends but for those who at least follow the international conventions, this was posted on Mario's page yesterday.
While canceling not only next year's convention but the convention as a whole might seem drastic to some, I fully agree with this decision. It would never be the same without them.
Dear Friends of the Italian Doll Convention,
We write to you with heavy hearts to share a very difficult and painful update. We have made the hard decision to cancel the Italian Doll Convention (IDC) that was scheduled for May 2026.
Since Mario and Gianni left us, we have spent a long time reflecting on how we might carry forward their dream. They dedicated a large part of their lives to IDC, turning each edition into a masterpiece of passion and perfection.
Their obsessive attention to every detail, their unmatched professionalism, and their boundless love for the community were unique qualities that made every Convention an unforgettable experience.
After careful consideration, we realized that we could never truly reach their level of excellence.
An IDC without their guidance and presence simply wouldn’t be the same.
To honor their memory and incredible work, we believe it is only right not to continue.
We want the memory of the Italian Doll Convention to remain forever tied to their "magic", without risking disappointing the expectations they worked so hard to exceed.
We fully understand that this news may be disappointing, and we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience it may cause.
For those who have already paid the participation fee, please don’t worry: you will be contacted personally very soon with clear instructions for a full refund of the amount paid.
If you have any questions or need clarification, feel free to write to us at: italiandollconvention@gmail.com
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the passion, support, and trust you have always shown to Mario, Gianni, and the Italian Doll Convention.
The Families of Mario and Gianni
