The "mystery head" that's been floating around online has been confirmed to be a 12 Days of Haloween set by Bill Greening. We only saw the doll in her box and not the contents, but it does make me glad I bought the 12 Days of Spring on sale when I had the chance.
The next Gala series doll will be in light blue. She was, for me, kind of unremarkable Mattel also didn't turn down the lighting during the presentation so it was hard to see her.
There will be another Dia de Muertos Barbie and Ken. The "designer" one for the year is a shimmery, water themed one that, for the archeologist in me, seemed to be channel Mexico's sacred cenotes. Given that the cenotes were often seen as gateways to the underworld, particularly by the Maya and Aztecs, this makes sense.
The next "Styled by" doll is pretty glam and appealing to me on a fashion level. Mix of pastel and shimmery colors. Just hoping the production doll matches concept.
The new Peaches & Cream repro dolls have launched, along with their American Girl counterparts. I wasn't too thrilled with those and they left me cold.
If there's anything else, I can't remember. No major news at any rate. Mattel seemed to only go half-way on the convention this year - from the mug gift at the luncheon to the half-hearted promotion of the Peaches & Cream repro and a cheap Looks doll for the Club 59 gift? They just felt as if they weren't trying.
Side note, the new Hallmark ornaments drop in a few weeks. There are Barbies in the mix but not as many as in previous years and no real standout designs.
