They did make some extras, yes, as the chairs typically get one of each version. Mattel also accounts for damage in shipping to the convention site and a mix up of people getting the wrong doll.
I didn't look for a COA in my doll as I shipped her out via FedEx early the next morning, but there were only 850 conventioneers and the Mattel employees who went didn't get the doll. I know as I had two (current and former employees) at my table. So while there are more than 850, there aren't 1,200.
conventioneers? I saw a post on eBay for an edition of around 1200. Didn’t make sense to me.
