So glad your dream came true.
That would be when I wanted a pair of black patent leather knee high boots that zipped up, so bad that I didn’t care if I got anything else. I was 7 years old. I also knew that the possibility of getting them for Christmas was slim. On Christmas Eve night, I dreamed that I indeed was gifted them the next morning! I put them on and zipped them up and then walked everywhere around our house and then ran down the street in them. I was so happy, haha! Then I woke up. The realization that it was just a dream was so deflating. But I soon shook it off once we began our Christmas morning traditions with breakfast, stockings, and then the tree. Well, when “Santa’s helper” (whichever sibling it was that year, I don’t recall) handed me my present that was shaped like a box that would have boots in it, I still didn’t get my hopes up. I just didn’t think it would happen. I’m the 13th child of 16, and never went without. But certainly learned early in life, to appreciate and make the most of whatever we had. So a frivolous pair of knee high boots for a child living in California, wasn’t a high priority or necessity, I knew that even at my young age. Well, I think I was in shock when I opened the box and saw the beautiful black patent leather. I can still hear the sound of the zippers, the feel of the boots on my legs, and the cool squeaky sounds they made as they brushed against each other when I walked. And of course the coolness factor I felt when I clomp clomped around in them haha! 😂 As I got older, I also came to realize the lengths my parents went to, to provide for our family throughout all those years. ❤️
