Also, last night Amazon put a handful of the 2021 Dia de Muertos Barbies up for sale. The allotment is sold out (but not the doll because I am certain there will be plenty of both Barbie & Ken) but the release date has been revealed to be early September of this year. Not surprising, no matter how many people insisted that she would be released in June. The previous two have each been a September release so no reason these two would be any different.
August 21st is the current date for the Merman Ken release. He is being teased as a "perk" of the new, merged Mattel Creations fan club or whatever this is. Still not impressed.
In Hallmark/Barbie news, like everyone else, Hallmark is having supply chain issues. The October Debut event (where the holiday Barbie ornaments and the AA ballerina were to premier) has been pushed back from October 2nd until October 16th. November open house (no Barbie ornaments that I know of) has also been pushed back, though the December event stays the same. I had heard that they have cartons of ornaments stuck in cargo containers, though how true that is, I have no idea.
Finally, migration to the new, fully integrated Mattel Creations/Barbie page is supposedly complete. Order histories have yet to be migrated. Also, even though platinum and gold members were to be "grandfathered" in, as of a few minutes ago, most formerly platinum members have been bumped back to gold. Mattel says they are working on it, but my faith in this migration being successful is...not high.
