This is my first Malibu from 1971. As you can see, she was loved. Her hair got fried when I washed and braided it and set her near a heating vent. LOL
This is Malbu #2, also from childhood. Her hair was not as silky as #1. It wasn't until I was an adult collector that I learned from my friend Jon Schofield that there were different types of hair used on the Malibus. He was a collector and also did doll repairs so he handled a lot of dolls. He said the ones with the silky hair were much harder to find. It's hard to tell in photos, but if you ever see one up close, it will be obvious.
#3 was acquired as an adult. Like my first one, she has the silky hair. However, I've kept her away from the heating vent. LOL
