As I said, the world of the Internet is changing, whether we like it or not, and I want to try to prove access for all of our members no matter how they visit the site. I'd make a mobile version if I could, but I can't. It's not an option on Boardhost's back end.
I'll confess this need for change kind of sneaked up on me. So I'm hopeful this compromise will work.

After seeing everyone's comments, I have spent the afternoon enlarging the photos as much as I possibly can. Playing with various sizes while doing load testing to ensure the board remains up and functional.
Unfortunately, with the addition of the logo and some changes on Boardhost's back end recently (or rather lack of changes) the photos can't be the size they were previously - though right now, they are not that much smaller. I am "hacking" the Boardhost system as it is and if the photos are any larger, there is a fear the board will "break" for lack of a better term as Boardhost is not keeping up with the changes being made to web browsers and mobile devices as a whole. If the photos become any larger or go back to the old size, the page will not load quickly (or in some cases, not load at all) on mobile devices like phones and including some tablets.
Please understand that the Boardhost system is old and is not being updated very much - if at all. Maintenance is done on their end only when there is an issue like the server crash last November and they are not very responsive to emails. The way we view the Internet is changing and they are not changing with it. This hampers the admins' ability to make changes as well.
Right now, I am working to find a balance that works for everyone - both those who view the page on mobile devices and need it to load quickly and those who use desktop view and want larger images. This means there will be growing pains. So the larger photos are back (but not as large as they were)for the desktop users, but the site still loads fairly quickly (but not as quickly as it did when I first reduced the photo size)for our mobile users.
If Boardhost provided a way to make a separate mobile site, I would do that, but unfortunately, they don't. This is the best compromise I can come up with. I hope you all understand.
