I'm not sure how true that rumor is but in the early 2000s word of their existence was floating around quite a bit. Not to mention that back then, Mattel was making a lot more collector prototypes than they do now. That yellow version of Tangerine Twist (Lemon Twist?) that appears in the background of a Carol Spencer or Kitty Black Perkins (can't remember which one) interview in the the Barbie episode of "The Toys that Made Us" is particularly divine. Wish that one had been made. I like the orange one, but that lemon yellow? Perfection!
So I think it's possible the green and yellow ones might exist in prototype fashion. If nothing else, I know that Robert Best's original concept sketches do.
