The band was called Thee Sixpence at first but when the record deal with UNI came along they said there was a couple of other bands with similar names and to come up with a new original name. So the band went back to Mark Stephen Weitz's parents house where we used to rehearse in their guest house. Mark said he wanted to use Strawberry in the name because his favorite song at the "time" was Strawberry Fields Forever. So the band sat around trying to come up with something to go with Strawberry...everyone throwing in suggestions...then when there was a moment of silence in the room the only sound being made was the scraping of the second hand on Mark's Big Ben Alarm Clock which was a little out of wack...then Mark and Lee Freeman (rip) both looked at each other and said "STRAWBERRY ALARM CLOCK"! With that they picked up the phone and called Russ Regan at UNI Records....his response..."That's Genius!...How did you come up with that?"😎

Like, where did they even get the name "Strawberry Alarm Clock" from? It always sounded futuristic.
