Not from the band but I can answer your question about the sound before the bridge. On a bass cover of the song on youtube, Ed King (or at least I presume) commented saying he played 2 note chords for that part before the bridge to make a fuller sound, which I imagine is what you're hearing in the song

Tomorrow is one of my favorite songs, even to this day. I particularly love the bass playing and line. What kind of setup was used? Also, sometimes, like just before the bridge, it sounds like the base is doubled by an instrument an octave lower. How did you make this sound?
I'm not a bassist, just a fan of great musicianship.
