Number one, they have a lot of good songs. Songs i don't turn off when they come on the radio. In fact, I'm always drawn in and listen till the end.
Number two, They were first cast as actors but they all had some form of musical experience. Along those lines, many of the inductees ended up acting in movies, The Beatles, Mick Jagger, Sting, and others. There's really no difference there.
Number three, Many great groups have used studio musicians on their records, The Beach Boys, The Turtles, The Association, etc.
Number four, many of the inductees didn't write their own songs, or at least not all of them.
Number five, there's no rule as to how a band must be put together.
The Monkees story is as interesting as any.
Number six, it really is them singing...they're not a Millie Vanillie thing.
Number six, they got ripped off just like any "real" band did.
For several years now, many have been petitioning online calling for a Monkees Hall of Fame induction.Personally,I don 't think so cause it was originally set up for TV and not so much the music industry but many make some slightly intriguing arguments like they were first to use Moog on a rock record...your thoughts?....
