I went to see the SEEDS play a show near me a couple of weeks ago. I brought it up to them and they said yes, they had heard and were waiting to hear something further. (we have not as yet)
I was friend's with Arthur Lee for a long time. He was a sweetheart. In the 90's we shared the same agent and did shows together. He even called me a couple of days before we were to play at the Palomino Club together and asked if SAC would back him up on 7 and 7 is and My Little Red Book which we were more than happy to do.
That night we went on first and during our encore Arthur got up on stage with us and sang Hendrix' Little Wing and Manic Depression with our singer, the late Lee Freeman. It was pretty cool.
Some of our first concerts in the 60's were with LOVE. Arthur even asked our flute player, Steve Bartek to come up and jam with Love at The Hullabaloo in Hollywood.
footnote;
My post SAC band, Buffington Rhodes, was named after and managed by Stephanie Buffington, Arthur's ex girlfriend and the subject of his song Stephanie Knows Who.
Have you personally been in touch with any of the Seeds or Johnny Echols and Michael Ware from LOVE concerning the matter?Also,can you recall your last meeting with Arthur Lee?Was he by any chance a bit aloof like you told me Jim Morrison was?I know a lot of high artsy types can lean this way behaviorally....
LOL!!! Well the year started off as such with us being asked to participate in one or the other Woodstock events. But, they never materialized. At least not for us, but we are playing at The Whisky A Go Go on July 13th.
There's also a bit of interest festering about here in So. Cal., for a mini tour with LOVE/SAC/SEEDS. Again, haven't heard more since the pipe dream yet.
Hey guys!
I'll bet tremendous waves of nostalgia will certainly be sweeping over the band rather majestically as one by one events of 1969 will turn 50 and are already becoming topics TV specials,Moon landing,Abbey Road,Paui-is Dead,the tragedy at Altamount and,of course,the Woodstock Festival.Are you already caught up in all the current hype surrounding nostalgia from this wonderous time frame of western culture?BTW,I MYSELF turn 50 this year!
