The second time was when I was playing bass for (of all people) Bob Mosley on his solo album that was being funded by Stephen Stills. Mosley got the bass gig with Neil shortly after that and also told him "hi" for me...
Then in the late 1990's Dewey Martin and Bruce Palmer..both of whom I had remained friendly with, were doing some recording up at Neils ranch in Scots Valley and Dewey again passed on my hello!
All of which were returned with a nicety.
Mike Love hasn't fired anybody. It was the plan from the get go. They would do a 70 show reunion tour and album and then Mike would resume touring with his interim Beach Boy band...he owns the name.
I think David, Brian and Al were having much more fun than they might have anticipated and are consequently disappointed...the funny thing is that when Love and Johnston go back out they'll be getting a wake up call....now people are gonna want more for their money....they'll want the real Beach Boys!
