I remember Steve Bartek telling me that while he was still attending high school and we were on the road promoting the Incense and Peppermints LP, several of his classmates came up and praised his song writing accomplishments and added that they "knew what he was talking about". His reaction was "you do?". The songs that Steve and I wrote were partially culled from little quotes we found in books and then pieced together to form rhymes and seemingly profound meanings. We definitely were not trying to be heavy handed or guruesque. Mostly just having fun with it all and not knowing it would end up on an album that would reach #11 on the Billboard album chart for all the world to hear and dissect for all of time.
Paul IS dead...isn't he????

: Did SAC ever envision themselves as ever
: becoming somewhat of a "message and
: meaning" type of band back in the days
: when fans tuned in vehemently to their
: favorite artists' latest works in hopes of
: discovering new levels of spiritual, soical
: and political enlightenment? And speaking on
: the lighter yet morbid side of the whole
: message and meaning thing, what was your take
: on the whole "Paul is Dead"
: hullabaloo? Some way too tripped out fans
: with too much time on their hands?
